Silk twill is distinguished as a light or middle weight material in an even twill weave. Twill weaves have diagonal lines across the cloth (as opposed to a plain weave which has a flat surface effect or a satin weave which creates a high luster, smooth surface effect). The hand can vary from soft and drapey to crisp and stiff.
